For over eight years, seniors at Bishop Moore Catholic High School have not had finals as a graduation requirement. As of this 2022-2023 academic year, senior finals have since been reinstated. This change is unwelcome and unanticipated, and considered among all seniors as unnecessary.
Senior year is indisputably emotionally taxing, and after a slew of standardized testing, college admittances or rejections, sports, relationships, prom, and hundreds of other senior activities, any given senior would be thoroughly exhausted. This in mind, tacking on an academic requirement upon 20% (Student Handbook, 8) of the grade is contingent is absurd.
In light of our Diocesan theme of Solidarity this year, the class of 2023 would like to come together to respectfully demand the revoking of senior finals as a graduation requirement.
