I ( Roxanne) am the mother of a 14-year-old freshman in the special needs program at San Pedro high school. Upon dropping my daughter off on her first day of school, I realized that there were many issues present that are directly affecting our special needs students. No benches, not enough shade from the direct heat, no basketball court,the bungalows and yard resemble a prison yard. Our children have to make a 12-15 min walk uphill to the actual campus to have lunch with their peers, many of our children have difficulty with physical activity so this is a huge challenge and is bringing along major behavioral issues from our children. The campus is not suitable for our children whatsoever! I , along with other parents who have children in this program, feel that it is in the children’s best interest to have them back in the original campus that they were on three years prior. San Pedro is a close knit community that prides itself on taking care of their own. I urge you to sign this petition in order to protect our children, many of whom are not able to express or help themselves.
