My son Kayden is 6 years old and he has a fully legal ESA animal in Lego!
Lego is a Goat!
We we’re advised through Newton County Code Enforcement that we could no longer keep Lego due to a neighbor complaint and county code.
We advised Newton County Code enforcement several times over the phone that Lego was Kaydens service animal. They came out with a statement to the local television news stations that said they had no clue but they did.
The code enforcement supervisor even told me during a phone call that her speaker was on so others could listen as I spoke, for her safety. During this call I said at least twice that Lego was my sons ESA animal due to his autism.
They would only tell me “sorry we can beat anything when it comes to code, you can’t have the animal it’s needs to go.” She hung the phone up and never had a statement again until we had our interview with several local television news stations!
Kayden was diagnosed with Autism around 2 1/2 years old and was completely non verbal. We got him involved in therpy at a young age to be proactive in his growth and skills due to autism.
He attended Hyppotherepy (horse riding) and Graduated from the program and made tremendous improvements in his speech and other skills.
During this time we wanted to continue the work he had by getting him another animal similar to the ones he worked with while doing Hyppotherepy to continue his growth at home. That’s when we met Lego!
Lego was a bottle fed baby in which Kayden helped with daily and he only opened up more. Therefore we went through the steps from his doctors letters and soon to make Lego Kaydens service animal to help with his emotional and physical support.
Kayden continues to help with Lego daily by feeding him, brushing his hair and walking him! He speaks to Lego and lays his head on Lego to hug him.
Lego has all the proper paperwork and he is certified as Kaydens service animal!
We are fighting to keep Lego in our family for my son as when he is feeling down Lego is always their to lend Kayden the support he needs.
Lego is Kaydens best friend and he will tell you that!
Please join me and share my petition to keep Lego in our family for my son Kayden!
