An Open Letter of Support from Caring Faculty

 

As a community of educators and learners, we stand in solidarity with our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, non-binary, and two-spirit students, alumni, faculty, staff, and other employees. Indeed, many of us in this caring community are LGBTQ+. 

·       We see you, we hear you, we support you, and we affirm you. 

·       We believe that every student belongs, every experience matters, and every individual has the potential for a meaningful and purposeful life.

·       We acknowledge that silence and inaction contribute to ongoing personal and institutional homophobia, sexism, heterosexism, and cisheteropatriarchy. 

·       We resolve to make our classrooms and offices spaces of inclusion and non-discrimination. 

·       We affirm that we all have the responsibility to do and be better by learning, listening, and acting for change toward a more healthy, loving, compassionate, and just world.
