Animal control Officer Ashley Brown has been employed by the Jesup Police Department for 22 years in the Animal Control Division. Officer Brown has been responsible for saving thousands of animals and assisting our community anyway that is asked of him that are above his duties as a city animal control officer. The city of Jesup only has 2 Animal Control Officers who are responsible for the care and welfare of the animals and citizens of Jesup, the cleanliness of the pound, all paperwork, all animal calls, overseeing people doing community service, and meeting with various volunteers, rescues, transports to assist with the animals leaving animal control. They also have the hard and heart wrenching task of putting down animals that are hurt, sick or deemed dangerous by the courts. All these tasks would be impossible with just one officer. Officer Brown covers for the other Officer for vacations, sick time, and various other times. He also takes turns coming in on the weekends to take care of the animals so that they can both have time with their spouse and children. If we lose an officer, we as a community will suffer and so will the animals. Anyone that has seen Officer Brown work with the animals can tell his love of them and knows how much he loves his job to serve them and our community. We need Officer Brown’s experience with animals and the ins and out of the Animal Control Division to keep the pound running smoothly and to assist the animals getting out alive. He has selflessly devoted his life to Jesup and the animals. Please sign the petition and be the voice to save our Officer’s job and his way of life. He should be able to stay at Animal Control until he is able to retire and keep doing a job that can be very stressful and difficult. We appreciate the job Officer Brown does so let’s show him our heart felt gratitude by signing this petition and showing our support of a job well done.
