Why Don’t We is an American boy band, formed in 2016. There has been an ongoing legal battle between the 5 members and their old management, David Loeffler of Signature Entertainment.

On September 9th 2021, Why Don’t We released a statement explaining their situation with Loeffler. Detailing the mental and financial abuse of the production company, the members were stopped from releasing music until matters cleared up regarding music releases. 

When the band began advertisement for their North American Tour in April 2022, Signature Entertainment continued to hold their control over them. This infliction lead to the complete cancellation of the tour in July 2022 after the production company formed a cease and desist letter. Why Don’t We followed these events with the announcement of their hiatus. 

Some of these young men were 15 years old when the band was formed, leaving their lives in the hands of an abusive manager. All members have a history of the music industry since they were young children. Daniel Seavey and Jack Avery both appeared on American Idol, as well as Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, and Zach Herron releasing their own music prior to 2016. They have been distanced from their families (Jack Avery specifically has been distanced from his daughter, Lavender), damaged physically by the eating disorders developed during the time of their abusive manager’s power, and emotional damage from being held prisoner in their own home by their manager.
