The use of Practical Effects in Stranger Things has been minuscule. Well, maybe not, but in comparison to the amount of CGI the Duffer Brothers are using, it is. Stranger Things 4 was was no different.

Duffer Bros, your story telling & character development are impeccable! The villains you continue to introduce amaze us, while scaring our socks off at the same time. We just have one tiny favor to ask when you wrap up this incredible final season…

For the love of Barbara, can you please cut some CGI and give us more practical effects?! 

You promised more practical fx in Stranger Things 4, but the CGI completely drowned it out. The entire Vecna suit looked computer animated. 

It’s understood CGI is necessary, and the CGI that is used is schmackin’ (if you know what I mean, Argyle). HOWEVER, we want to see more practical effects for our villains in Stranger Things 5. The villain becomes more palpable, more terrifying, more…real. 

For those unfamiliar with the term “Practical Effect”, it is a type of special effect produced/created before filming occurs. That way it can be on set for when filming begins (makeup, animatronics, suites, fake blood, lights, explosions etc.). It is an effect that isn’t added by computers or other post-production techniques after filming ends. 

Oh, and please try not to kill off anymore of our favorite characters! Ok, thanks.
