#“Espn   #Way”   #Petition   

On Thursday April 14th, 2022, Antonio “Espn” Romellz Yarger Jr. was playing near his home on Downing Avenue in Erie, Pennsylvania when he was senselessly shot in a drive by shooting. He died four days later on Monday, April 18th, 2022. He was just seven years old.

 

His death shocked an entire community, his community, and in so many ways shattered the innocence and peace of something as simple as children playing outside freely and without fear in their own neighborhood.

 

While we may never truly understand why this happened, what we do know as a city is that change is needed more now than ever and that together WE ARE THE SOLUTION.

 

This petition is just the first step in insuring that the City Of Erie never forgets young Espn or what his life and passing meant to the people of our city. But also, what it calls for will forever serve as a reminder of innocence lost and the need to always protect our children first and foremost. That as our single greatest asset, they deserve only the best from us. 

This petition hereby calls on Erie City Council and Mayor Joseph Schember to rename the portion of Downing Avenue from East 18th Street to Fairmont Parkway formally to “Espn Way”.
