As of Thursday, June 30th, MSKA Lejeune had its base privileges revoked. What does that mean? That means that the biggest chapter of MSKA may not be able to continue to play kickball. That is 400+ members unable to play kickball because the 1% wants to shut it down. But it’s not just limited to the 400 that are here now. There are plenty of women PCSing to this area soon. That removes a huge networking potential for them to find their tribe at a new duty station. We are a community of military spouses who NEED this outlet.
Not only will the spouses of Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River pay the consequences of this decision, but so will the local charities that rely on our donations. In the most recent years, we have donated funds to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, canned food items to CHEW, and donated backpacks to children in foster care. Community is a major pillar that MSKA was built on and we take pride in our ability to give back to our community. We can’t help but see the potential impact this will have on our community if the chapter is unable to operate.
